WEBSTER'S DICTIONARY 1828'S DEFINITION FOR AMERICAN

In the 1828 version of Webster's Dictionary the definition of American states that the word American is a noun, meaning "a native of America; originally applied to the aboriginals, or copper-colored races, found here by the Europeans; but now applied to the descendants of Europeans born in America." Did you know that America's original inhabitants were aboriginals?

WEBSTER'S DICTIONARY 1828'S DEFINITION FOR ABORIGINAL

In the 1828 version of Webster's Dictionary the definition of American states that the word Aboriginal is an adjective, meaning "First; original; primitive; aboriginal people are the first inhabitants of a country.

Aboriginal tribes of America.
